About The Venture Index

The Venture Index is owned and operated by TMRM Ltd, a company registered in England.

It comprises the sub £1m investment commitments in UK businesses by the members of the Venture Index - whose logos appear on the left and right hand side of the home page of www.venture-index.co.uk. All the founder members have agreed to supply relevant details of the investments they make to TMRM Ltd via their investor record at www.vcrdirectory.net. This data is then gathered and analysed automatically by TMRM Ltd's search engine on a quarterly basis. The updated information on the Venture Index will be published quarterly in March, June, September and December for the periods upto the end of the previous month i.e. February, May, August and November.

All investment amounts are in £sterling and are the sum of investment amounts made by the members of the Venture Index in the relevant deals. All investment numbers are the sum of absolute numbers of investments made by the members of the Venture Index.

Published data for the Venture Index has been gathered since 1/10/2003. The start date of the graphical element of the Venture Index is the 12 month period upto and including 30 September 2004 i.e. from 1/10/2003 to 30/9/2004. Each bar or point on the chart represents the data gathered over the 12 month period described on the x-axis. The information for the favourite investment criteria are gathered from the same sources over the same periods and also for the latest quarterly period. The raw data used to create the Venture Index can be downloaded at for a small fee. If anyone wishes to have further details on the investments made please contact any of the founder members direct, using the contact details provided at their websites or in their investor records.

Please note that in the case of some members the investment commitment may reflect the risk capital cash committed to an investee company in a particular round of investment, but not yet drawn down by the investee. In all other cases the investment amount provided represents the total risk capital cash provided to the investee company from that particular source in that particular round. This amount does not necessarily purport to be the total amount of risk capital investment that the investee company obtained in the particular fundraising round, as they may have received funding from others sources who do not participate in the Venture Index.
